The Colorado Subontractors Coalition (CSC) goal is to build trust through collaboration. CSC is the place where contractors, specialty contractors, associate professionals come together to work on industry issues and concerns. Founded in 2016, the CSC influences state and local policy makers to support the improvement and betterment of the contractor business community. The CSC is currently meets at least once a month and is composed of the legislative committees for the
- American Subcontractor’s Association of Colorado (ASAC)
- Colorado Roofing Association, (CRA)
- Rocky Mountain Steel Contractors Association (RMSCA)
Our Mission:
- Influencing legislation to support fair payment practices for specialty contractors.
- Working towards creating an environment that encourages an abundance of construction projects in Colorado.
How CSC Supports Colorado Construction Specialty Contractors
- Emma Hudson Consulting LLC., Lobbyist
- Colorado Legislative Candidate interviews
- Financial support of Colorado Legislative Candidates who support specialty contractor businesses and the construction industry
- CSC member organization members contact Colorado Legislators through a Call to Action of issues urgent to their business interest
- Propose and obtain sponsors for bills.
- Review reports and meet with lobbyists on proposed legislation and candidates.
- Review proposed legislation & publish CSC positions
- Coordinate with ASAC, CRA, and RMSCA members to support or oppose legislation through the power of grassroots efforts to effect change.
- Work proactively on positive changes in safety & environmental regulations, contract terms, and other issues.
- Annual fundraising event(s) providing networking and education
CSC Key Achievements
- In partnership with the Colorado Construction Industry persuaded Governor Polis to veto the 2024 Wage Theft Bill.
- Successfully supported and influenced legislation that reduced retention maximums to 5% (that extra 5% you don’t have to fight for can go a long way!)
- Played a pivotal role in creating an environment conducive to increased construction projects.
- Work proactively on positive changes in safety & environmental regulations, contract terms, and other issues.
- Participate in a larger industry coalition, focused on payment reform and construction industry issues.
- Testify before legislative committees in support or opposition to key bills.
- Capped retainage at 5%.
- Bonding on public-private projects
